Looking for the name of this book.

I can't remember it's name, or the author.

But from What I remember. This kid finds a maze inside of this house, and inside there are other people in this pitch black maze with him living in the center of it where light shines through. To find out where the light comes from he climbs over the maze wall and finds that on the other side of the wall is another world. He finds this kingdom under the power of a corrupt king who holds him prisonner he escapes from a revolt and kills the king. He then falls in love with the princess and they run away somewhere and she leaves him at some point.

It was a really good book, and I can't stop thinking about it. So if someone read this book and you recognize this story let me know. I think it was made for a middle school grade level or something.
