Can't remember book from childhood

This may be a longshot, but there was a book (hardcover) I once saw as a child that was pretty scary. It was a picture book with captions. Here are the descriptions of the some of the pictures:

Floating nuns
A man with a chair trying to crush something that was moving under his rug
A very large ship that was being pulled into a narrow canal
A house rocketing away

That's all I can remember. Anyone know the name of that book?

The book you're thinking of is The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, by Chris van Allsburg. It's a gorgeous book, I hope you see this so you can find it again!
