Craig Forgrave: Devil Jazz/ Ron Currie Jr.: God is Dead

Post by nohornswoggle »

I recently finished reading Craig Forgrave's Devil Jazz and thoroughly enjoyed it. I could not, however, stop my brain from thinking about Ron Currie Jr's God is Dead. They are so similar, yet completely opposite. I just can't put my finger on it. They both share the same basic theme of mankind being either good or bad in the face of an apocalypse, whether it be worldy or spiritual. Has anybody read both of these titles, or at least one, and would like to give me some feedback/input?

Hey!
I have never read Devil Jazz, but I did recently finish God Is Dead by Ron Currie Jr., a book I found absolutely amazing. It's quite amusing to watch people's reactions when they see the cover of the book, because they always assume the worst. However, I honestly think that Currie is probably a religious person.

I mean, to start with, Currie supports the idea that human kind could not survive without God. Sure, there was massive chaos at first, but people recovered and reassembled life, and carried on a life without God as best as they could. But by the end, people were lost and wars were waging, and even though he never says, I think Currie implies that the world pretty much collapses in on itself.

I loved this book. I found it to be an interesting and fun philosophical journey. I would most definitely recommended it to everyone. And what's best is that it's literature.. and literature is art. Therefore, its up for everyone's own interpretation.
