Looking for a book like Die Hard or Vertical Run...

Featuring a clever hero (or heroes) who is trapped in one location (office building, phone booth, etc).

Thanks!

Ice Station and Contest are two books by Matthew Reilly that might appeal to you. :)

Thanks. I was looking at Contest and liked the everyman having to survive a game concept, but the "galactic contest among alien races" thing kinda put me off a bit.

Is this heavily featured?
Also, any other suggestions that are more ...grounded?

Thanks again.

Contest is a bit on the Sci-Fi side, but it's got lots of twists and turns that makes it worth it.
Ice Station would be more to your taste then!
Have you tried any of Clive Cussler's books? Dirk Pitt is one of the ultimate literary heroes.

I've considered the Dirk Pitt adventures - always up for a good Indy-ish tale. I've hear he is a bit too superhuman in the ways he gets out of situations which I guess I could live with, but I'm also not big on the underwater stuff, which a lot of hsi books seem to feature. Given this, which ones would you recommend?

I really want something like Die Hard or Vertical Run. The character is a sort of everyman and he is trapped in one location, having to use his wits to survive.
