Help!!! I need a book!

Post by Kate xxx »

I am searching for good book to read and I was wondering if anyone could help me. My favourite books are the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling and the Twlight series by Stephanie Meyer. The qualities I look for in a good book are:
-fiction
-admirable main character that you can relate to (preferably 16-18 years of age, maybe a girl)
-romance and love
-mystery
-adventure
-page turner
-unputdownability
-preferably a series
-makes you laugh
-makes you cry
-well thought out plot
-rereadability
-where everything adds up in the end like a jigsaw
-a good twist
-longish book
-update to date/modern
-adventure
-supernatural
-good guys and bad guys
I know I am being very specific but I would really appreciate any suggestions- especially if you think it is better than Harry Potter!!!

-a good twist
-longish book

-update to date/modern

You should look into the Bartimaeus Trilogy. I happened to stumble upon it by accident and thoroughly enjoyed the first one. They fall into the same genre as Harry Potter. There's magic and young people. A bit of treachery and a mystery. Plus they're decently long.
Or if you'd like something a little more "adult" (best word I could choose, I mean nothing bad!) you could try the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. Witches, werewolves, vampires etc all based in present-day Cincinnati I think it is. Lots of plot twists, the books are pretty long and so far there are 6 or 7 of them.
Hope you enjoy!

The Fablehaven series is AWESOME if your a Potter fan you'll love them, they are pretty hard to put down. A lot of mythical fantasy combined with action.

The Princess Diaries series --don't be fooled by the Disney versions, the books are hilarious, and there is plenty of romance. Mia is also easy to relate to and the "unputdownability" is high.

Holes--the main character is a guy and it's not a series, but the way everything adds up in the end is incredible. It's very plot-driven and well done.

People seem to like Nicholas Sparks. He's a romance writer. He did The Notebook and Message in a Bottle. I read the latter and didn't like it, but then again I'm not into romance. My friend read it and loved it, so I guess it depends on what you're into.

For mystery, try the Alex Cross series by James Patterson, or the Women's Murder Club series by the same author. I've read most of the Alex Cross series (Along Came a Spider, the first, is amazing). I heard that the Women's Murder Club is good too, but I've never read it. The books are real page turners.

Hope all that helps :)

This is what you need:

The Inkheart/Inkspell/Inkdeath trilogy...AMAZING!
Swan Song and Boy's Life, both by Robert McCammon
The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer, Airman by him is also good
The Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, the first is called The Lightning Thief
Anything by Alice Hoffman, especially The River King and Practical Magic

First thing is first, I'm just saying that Meyer is not a very excellent writer and people just fall in love with her characters, even me. I like Japser. *cough cough Back to the subject. I am an expert in vampire books so i can offer you some more teen vamp books you might enjoy..
::House of the Night Series, Book 1: Marked, Kristen&P.C. Cast- this also includes some of the wiccan relgion which is interesting
::The Morganville Vampire Series, Book 1: Glass Houses, Rachel Caine
and...
:: The Blue Bloods Series, Book 1: Blue Bloods, Mellissa de la Cruz

I tried to included different kinds though all have your criteria. Hope that helps!

Hello,

Hey if you are interested in reading non fiction then try Jim Clemmer`s leadership books, they are very informative and useful too.

I just finished The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke and it was great! Not a ton of magic but just enough, and it still seemed real. I really want to visit Venice now because of it!
You should also check out the Peter and the Starcatchers series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, it is a funny and wonderful take on Peter Pan, and full of magic and adventure.
Unicorn Mountain by Michael Bishop is great, although it may be hard to find. It mixes reality with magic very well. The writer is actually from the same area as I am and his son was one of the people killed in the Virginia Tech shootings.
The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub is also wonderful--a little dark, but I think you would really dig it.
In closing, also try The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. LOVED IT!!
