How fast do you read

I also take a similar time to complete a page. In about 3 minutes I will have read through a page, unless it contains more than average. I also like to read in chunks these days rather than in one sweep. I'll read like 50 pages, takes a break and then resume to read another chunk. I find it easier to plan and manage my reading that way.

Too fast! To the point I tend to slim read. Especially when it's a book with a tense storyline, it's like I have to try and get to the end quicker. I'm trying to make a conscious effort to slow down, as I don't even know my reasoning for doing it, but I'm definitely not getting the most out of a story by rushing it.

Depending on the book, I can read three to five pages a minute. I would consider myself a fast reader. As long as I have time to, reading a short series such as The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins would only take me two to five hours to finish.


Curious. What series could you finish within a day and how long would would you estimate it would take to read said series?

It depends on the context of the book. Because sometimes you'll have to ret-read he page before you get the point

I generally read about five books weekly. Though not a speed reader I am a fast reader. However, I do not skim unless I really dislike it or certain portions. I read a ton of Nonfiction and field guides (plants, animals, birds, fungi...) so take much longer with those as I scrutinize and study.

It depends on if I like the book or not. Most books get better as they go along, but sometimes when Im really into a book, I can't put it down and can get through it faster.

Agree!! I read quite fast when it comes to thrillers and suspense. But it's hard to maintain the same speed when I read self-help books.

I will read 20 pages per hour. But, the books is an interesting one, I will read 30+ pages per hour.
