I tend to do that if I have seen the movie first. It doesn't even matter that the actor doesn't fit the character's description in the book.

Almost never. Sometimes if there's a strong female lead I see Meg Ryan. :)

As many others have said, I like the willpower required to entirely obliterate the image of the actor from my mind if I am reading the book after having seen a tv/ movie version. Quite interesting that it happens to authors too; Morse and Lewis in the Colin Dexter novels began to morph into their television counterparts in the later books.

I've never really thought about who would play the roles while reading a book and am usually shocked when I see the book on screen.

I always imagine specific actors to play the roles of any novels i read & to be honest "Khalid Hosseni" 's novels always
force me to picture the bollywood actor "i don't know if any would know him" 'Ranveer singh' , i'm not even a fan of him
but my sister "who's the biggest Btown lover" always watch these films and someday i just passed by and saw him on screen
, he reminded me of "Tariq" , "Nabi" in Hosseni's "Thousand splendid suns " & "And the mountains echoed" :) !
So , yes i do picture actors ! i totally agree with you ! :)

Sometimes I do, but most of the time I just picture the character as an individual with the characteristics described in the book.

I generally tend to read the book before the film so not really. I've recently read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and found out it's being made into a movie. The book was so great that I don't think any actor/actress will ever do the characters real justice so I don't think I could bring myself to watch the film now for fear of picturing the actors when I read it again!

I do, usually the authors description leads me to some actor/actress that fits the bill.

I don't usually picture them while I'm reading, but I do like to try to figure out who would play who when I'm done.

Yes I do it all the time. I usually associate the people in the book with people I know.

Not usually, I just picture the characters how I think they would look, and not necessarily by the description, unless the book has been made it movie and I read the book AFTER I see the movie.

For all the heroic YA male characters I read... I always picture this actor with black hair who is not really known at all... it's very weird because I don't think his all that handsome but when reading the books and I imagine him.. he becomes very handsome in my head.
