The last book I read was Snatched up to Heaven! by Jemima and Arvind Paul which I gave a solid 5-star rating. It rebooted my thinking and wonder and made me question what the afterlife is like. It is a wonderful book.

5/5 stars
"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn is a psychological thriller that follows the mysterious disappearance of Amy Dunne on her fifth wedding anniversary. The narrative unfolds through alternating perspectives of husband Nick and Amy, revealing a complex web of secrets, lies, and a media frenzy. As the investigation progresses, the story takes unexpected twists and explores themes of marriage, deception, and the media's influence on public perception. Flynn crafts a gripping narrative with sharp psychological insight, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the shocking conclusion.

The last book I read was London for immigrant suckers; so long Yugoslavia by Kolya S., and my rating was 3 out of 5 and 2 out of 4. This was one of those books that you give a lower rating solely due to number of errors, but you, undoubtedly, know it deserves a perfect rating. I will be rereading it.

The Reign of the Vedic Gods by Swami Achuthananda - 9/10

This book feels like a wealth of knowledge. In quick and easy to understand chapters, you learn about the important Vedic gods and Vedic culture. While it's not exhaustive in terms of covering every small detail, it does provide a great picture of what early Hinduism was like and how it evolved. I really appreciated how balanced the author is. He doesn't shy away from controversial aspects, but he respects religion with a nuanced understanding. I liked his explanation of how Kama, god of passion, was conquered by Shiva, god of austerity (restraint), but his love arrow still causes Shiva to marry, so passion and restraint are cycles that complement each other.

One caveat is this book is not really where someone should start if they know nothing about Hinduism. It's more for those that already have a basic understanding. I would recommend The Complete Life of Krishna: Based on the Earliest Oral Traditions and the Sacred Scriptures by Vanamali for newbies.

The last book I read was Niching Up. I rated it 5 out of 5. This book is suited to all who are trying to figure out their area of expertise and having doubts about niching up. The author has used his own business as case study to help us understand how niching can help us. Even in poker where luck plays a pivotal role the author attributes his success to studying the intricacies of the game. To sum up experience and expertise are ingredients for success.

I just finished Reached by Ally Condie. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. The storyline was a bit simple, and some aspects of the story could have been built out more. The timeline of the story also moved pretty quickly without clear indications that months of time had passed within the storyline. I believe the book's intended audience is young adults, so for that age-range, I think it would be more enjoyable than reading it as an adult.

Latest Review: The Golden Manuscripts: A Novel by Evy Journey

Post by Rukayya Yusuf Hameed »

The last book I finished reading was Evy Journey's novel, "The Golden Manuscripts,” it delves into the life of Clarissa, an Asian/American woman with a rich cultural background across seven countries. Despite her extensive travels, Clarissa yearns for a true sense of home.

The novel unfolds as a cross-genre literary tale encompassing self-discovery, art mystery, travel, and love.

A notable aspect of the book, particularly appealing to art enthusiasts, is its exploration of various artistic elements, This immersive journey into the art world becomes a delightful experience for readers.

I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars. It offers an enjoyable experience for art, mystery, and adventure enthusiasts.
