To me, each book I've read is like a friend. As I read, books come to life for me. I have this urge to keep them once I'm done. I can't throw them out. After I finish one, I put it in my library and at all times, I usually am reading one book I've already read.

When I'm done reading a book I usually keep it and put it on a book shelf. After some time, I then bring them to a store for secondhand books to trade for other books, or donate them.

I certainly will keep the book. There are 2 reasons:

1) The books price are so expensive (depends on type of the book, like mine is mostly IT related books)
2) The books content are so valuable and I keep on looking back into its content and see the correlation e.g. ideas from other books.

Optional reason:
To show that I read books and to encourage other people to do that also

Return it to the library--like a good little boy.

I give mine away and because of allergies don't want to store them to collect dust. Most recently I have been buying more e-books.

I trade them with friends, donate them to the library for the used book sale. I don't keep books, mainly because I have no interest in reading them a second time.

When I am finished reading a book, I either donate it, add it to a garage sale, or, if I really loved it, I keep it or pass it on to a friend. I enjoy passing books on to friends, because we end up trading books that we loved.

I have a habit of keeping all the books I've read because it does get a little tricky to sell them for a decent price when the book is outdated. If I end up not being able to sell it and I really want to get rid of it I swap it online for a book credit to use on another book.

My books first circulate through family and then friends....once they've made the trip I donate them. Only exceptional or special books stay in my library.

My sister has taken some of mine and traded them in at a used book store for credit so she can get more books to read.

I generally don't re-read books, unless I hated them and someone keeps saying it's a great book, or maybe if I really liked it the first time and I'd like to revisit a couple of years later. Otherwise, books flood my home.

Another book in this list would be 'The Sense of an Ending', by Julian Barnes. I first read it when I was 18 and couldn't really appreciate it. Maybe I'll come back to this book sometime later in my life when I would be able to relate to what Barnes was talking about.
