Yeah, I also get sleepy when reading especially if I'm tired for the whole day, but if I'm reading a very interesting book, I try to fight sleepiness.

Yes, most of the time this does happen to me, but I'll say that 'it depends'.
Sometimes it is the timing of when we usually choose to read (when we're already tired).
When we're up and about and full of energy, we are able to concentrate on various tasks.
But then, after it all, we sit or lay down to focus on reading, and it all comes crashing down.
At times it can be the subject matter isn't of particular interest.
I'm inclined to disagree that it's the eyesight, since when you're really into a topic, you're mind will find a way to focus and keep you awake, atleast for a while. Our attention span can on average be about 20 - 30 minutes, but I've found that a yarn or two may pop up after about 40 minutes or thereabout. :D
Happy reading.

Even if I am reading the most exciting book in the world, if my body is tired, I will start to fall asleep mid-sentence. But I never want to admit that I am tired, so I continue to try to read the same page over and over.

Yes I do get sleepy because I usually read at the end of the day before I go to bed, and so I guess it happens because I am tired.

Books seem to be the only thing to help me go to sleep! I discovers in college I needed to keep moving, so I am a pr at waking either outside or on my treadmill while reading keeps me awake and alert.

dickens 100 wrote: 07 Jul 2015, 03:37 The problem is, I like reading at night. I usually get books that are not dull so that's not the problem. I suppose you are more relaxed at night and less alert. If I read in the morning or afternoon, then fine. The annoying bit is , I don't seem to get past a chapter at night without falling asleep!. Maybe you should go outside and get some fresh air for five minutes, or would that make it worse!
That's what I advise if I were asked. Thank you

As soon as I start reading, I get sleepy. From day one of reading, it's just a natural thing for me. Reading puts me to sleep, so that's what I'll do if I can't sleep. Read a book and it's, "goodnight Rebekah."

I definitely get sleeping when I read books that I don't enjoy but have to read them for school. For example, textbooks, or non-fiction stories or novels for English that I just don't find interesting. However, I have also felt sleepy while reading books that I enjoy too. Sometimes I get so tired just sitting in bed reading a book and I think the comfort has a lot to do with that. It's very comfortable and relaxing and I think it's easy to become drowsy.
