I would have to be boring and chose
William Wilberforce: The Life of the Great Anti-Slave Trade Campaigner. And hope there would be another like him to save the day and bring back the books :D

anita blake I need to read that book. I always knew who he was but it was Amazing Grace (movie) that really educated me as to how amazing a man he was.

I'm going to say something that would surprise a lot of people and say I was lucky to come from his home town - it's surprising because that town is such a dump now. However as a child I visited Wilberforce house museum several times a year as a child and found it greatly educational. Wilberforce helped greatly in the emancipation of slaves, it is such a shame that slavery is still as much a part of todays society as it was then. I think that man would tur in his grave if he knew.

I can recommend as a taster. Freedom Fighter. The Story of William Wilberforce
by Betty Steele Everett It's only 114 pages, so very easy to read.

Really? You think no singular piece of literary work would be worth saving? :? Even Mein Kampf has its value.

I know most people would chose some life alterting book, or something that would help society as a whole but I think I would have to pick The Secert Garden, just because it meant so much to when I was child, and every time I read it I almost feel like that child again.

That is such an awesome question!!! I would probably start with The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran... maybe the Bible... I have some of Pride and Prejudice memorized already but I have a feeling in a Fahrenheit 451 world, every third person would be something either by Jane Austen or from the Bible :D
