I agree with most of you that I prefer the real thing, but I love audiobooks, too. In college, I spent about an hour each day walking to and from school, so audiobooks were wonderful during that time, and also for working out at the gym. Now that I'm out of college, I listen to books when I'm driving but only when I know exactly where I'm going! If I have to think about directions, I can't focus on the book.

I also discovered another wonderful way to use audiobooks: listening to them as I fall asleep. I often want to read myself to sleep, but my eyes are so tired. Audiobooks let me curl up in the blankets with the lights off. When I start to doze, I turn off my iPod and toss it onto the night stand. Needless to say, I'm getting a lot of "reading" done by listening to audiobooks.

I wind up listening to my daughter's audiobooks while I'm doing laundry. She has an ipod in her room with speakers and she's listened to a ton of books that way (she's 7). I find myself standing outside her room to find out what happened, but I can't say I've ever intentionally listened to one. I like the physical aspect of reading - holding the book, seeing the words, etc.

I prefer a book in hand when I can but I have to travel all over the state frequently (i live in texas so that can take a while) and i can only listen to the radio for so long. A good audio book makes the trip seem so much better

I prefer a physical book over an audiobook. That way other people around me, mainly during rode trips, can do their own thing without getting distracted.

I prefer reading the real book instead of having someone reading it to me ... I tend to get bored if I listen to an audio book or to get distracted by something else and then I end up missing parts of the story

The real thing! Always!

First of all Audiobooks are real slow, don't have that much of patience in me. Secondly, when I am reading I like to get lost in the book and the world in it, which does not really happen with audiobooks.

There is a way to make the audiobooks go faster. On my iPod, as long as the format is listed as "audiobook" rather than "mp3" on iTunes, I can change the pace of the audio to "faster" or "slower." The default speed is too slow for me, too.

I like to read the book instead of listening to it. I like the peace and quiet of escaping into a book, and don't get the same satisfaction out of listening to someone read it to me.

I cant remember if I already replied to this or not but for me, I much prefer the real thing. I'm not really into audiobooks. However, my grandmother and mom really like audiobooks and my kids do too. I'm a very fast reader and alot of times the voices used in audiobooks aren't as good as my imagination. LOL!
