It depends on my mood. I generally stick to contemporary stories, when I can't find anything that strikes me in contemporary I'll explore a good Vampire or Werewolf romance and maybe twice a year I'll throw in a historical.

Could be the same as the one I mentioned. It's the one with a heroine with a pretty unconventional job in that era, right? I don't think there are that many historical romances with that title :D . I enjoyed that book a lot. It's different from other romance novels.

I'm the opposite. I read mostly paranormal but only recently have I been reading more contemporary. I believe the first contemporary novel I read would be J.R. Ward's 'The Player'. I think she wrote that one under the name 'Jessica Bird'. And then now I've read Kresley Cole's 'The Professional' and I enjoyed it a lot.

I typically read paranormal romance and/or paranormal erotica for the escape the real world aspect of being immersed in those stories. I will occasionally read modern setting non-paranormal erotica if it is exploring something more interesting than just a M/F romance and vanilla sex; for me that usually means BDSM situations by an author who understands them well or non-traditional relationships. The only series I have enjoyed that I would class as historical romance is Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Saint-Germain series and I think when I first read them, they were shelved with the horror books because the main character is a vampire-type-creature. Other than that, I usually can't get into historical setting books unless they're fantasy settings or more steampunk style.

Historical-- easy to escape to and they tend to be light in tone.

I used to prefer modern romance, but I am starting to enjoy historical more.

I tend towards modern romance but have read pretty much all of the different genre's. Really just depends on my mood. I typically tend to stay away from Historical just because I feel like they tend to be more similar to one another than a modern romance novel. I mean how many ways are there to "Seduce a Rake". ;)

I am a huge fan of paranormal romance. I love paranormal books. I will read just about anything shifter, vampire, demon, and etc related, but I prefer a solid plot to the book and not just erotica because, lets be honest, it gets old after a while. A true paranormal book needs some supernatural action. My favorites currently are Anita Blake and Black Dagger Brotherhood.

I flip back and forth between all three. I guess my favorite would be paranormal. I love me some vampires and shifters.

I love historical romances, and second to that is paranormal. I also like comic romances. I wish there was a series out there similar to the Stephanie Plum novels by Evanovich, but with more steam.
Somewhere out there is a world we never knew existed.

Languages never spoken.
Colors that should not be.
Lives never opened.
Eyes that never see.

And then the page is turned, a universe created.

We are gods.

Paranormal. But I can't seem to get into the whole fairy/elf/vamp/wolf mesh up going on. After a while the story losses the reason I picked up the book and turns into some strange brothers grim plot with sex. I'm a human who dreams of being bitten by a vampire who has fallen for me. Maybe dreams of being claimed by a wolf. Much after that it just gets weird. I enjoy lord of the rings, but I don't fantasize about being an elf who falls for a hobbit.

I love paranormal the most because it helps me escape my life when I need to since it is the furthest from "real". I love Laurell K Hamilton books. She is the author of the Anita Blake series someone previously mentioned but I tend to like her Meredith Gentry series the most.

Paranormal - seems to have my interest the most right now. Although I like series better from the modern genre.

I enjoy historical, especially if it is set in a war such as the American Civil War or WWII settings.
