Do you discuss a book after reading

Use this forum for book and reading discussion that doesn't fall into another category. I like to discuss books, but my problem my education is limited and I dont know the in's and out of a proper discussion. I post reviews on here, but I do it in the only language I know. Some of them may be somewhat crude, but I hope the message gets across.

I want to discuss it but unfortunately I don't have someone to discuss it with. I'm planning to establish a book club, with the help of English teachers, who might be interested but I also plan to participate in our Film Club and make a short film, so it seems that the book club is closely remote.

Do you have a blog? I can support you and add some nifty comments :]

Sure. But first, I can't see your reviews. Do you mind if you link them?

Absolutely agree! It is not easy to find people willing to listen to, unfortunately! So I would start a blog like this of my italian friend Manuela Raganati, that is called BHO...BLOG. To share my book opinions! What do you think?

I like talking about it with someone who has read the book. If not, the temptation to have spoilers is too high.

The problem is that there usually is not anybody intelligent and interesting around to discuss books with. There are a plethora of people who want to talk American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, but a frightening dearth of folks who have ever read a book if it wasn't assigned to them in school. That's why I like hanging out with all of you fine folks.

I have the same problem some of you here are having: would love to discuss books after reading them, but haven't really got anyone to talk to. Most of my friends don't really read much. And the ones that do read completely different kind of books to me. Which is why I joined this forum.

Ha, some of them do actually. But I think it also boils down to some people just not being into discussing books they've read. There are times, however, when I feel so passionately about something I've read that who ever happens to be the unfortunate soul in my vicinity will have to listen to my thoughts. Like when after reading Into the Wild I went on a massive rant about the book and what Christopher McCandless did.

I rarely discuss a book after reading it, but often post a review on an online bookgroup site. This is because almost nobody I know reads the same books as me, or if they have done it's too long ago for useful discussion. Online is the best way.

Only if I know the person is interested in the type of genre, author or the book itself. And especially if someone has read it, I like to know what they think of the book and their opinions on it. It's quite fun to discuss if you know the general outline of the book.
