I sometimes do, although other times I find it distracting.

Not while reading books. But yes during breaks I do listen to mild instrumentals. It adds a different touch to the reading atmosphere.

I cannot listen to music when I read. It's too distracting. I don't mind listening to natural ambiance though. For instance, if I'm in a coffee shop, I like the bustling sound and smell of coffee, if I'm in a library, the stillness is really nice. I love reading while it rains, and I love reading outside while listening to the breeze go through the trees and the chirp of birds but I can't listen to any of that if it's fake. I know there is ambient audio that has things like "coffee shop," "rain," "forest," "ocean" but I can tell it's fake and it's very distracting.

No, I find that trying to read with people even just talking in the background distracting. I prefer quiet.

Not by choice it is too distracting. However, I am able to still enjoy reading when music is being played when I'm out in public...well, me in public, isn't that a terrifying thought? lol

I listen to music I know well sometimes, or might have the radio on, but I wouldn't try and simultaneously read a new book and listen to a new album.

Sometimes, but I don't listen to one specific type of music. It depends on the book. Sometimes I'll listen to classical, other times I'll listen to a Cirque du Soleil station on Pandora, other times it'll simply be piano music or nature sounds. And other times I prefer silence.

Generally, I prefer silence.... but when I've been sucked into the story, there could be fire alarms going off or sirens blaring and I wouldn't even notice.

I don't listen to music while I read. I do tend to have the tv on. I like having some background noise. It helps me focus better.

I've tried having some kind of background noise on while reading, whether it be low music or a TV show but I get distracted too easily. I'm sure I COULD read but it would be at a much slower rate.
