I am usually pretty strict about reading every word and savouring the words that the author has chosen, but then I read George RR Martin's second book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. He spent such gruelling hours detailing every curve in the armour that I caught myself skipping paragraphs because I found it boring and it was not related to the progression of the story.

I generally do not skip pages when I read once I start into the first chapter of a book. I am guilty of skipping the forward and table of contents quite often. When reading textbooks I generally work out of the index and table of contents for content specific data. Also, I have felt at times while reading a good book that I have skipped pages only to find that I got so wrapped up in the story that I had actually read the pages. Does this happen to anyone else?

Sometimes I read too quickly and accidently will skip a paragraph or two if the book is in a "boring" part of the plot. I always go back and reread because of the possibility of me missing something important.

When I read personal development books, I sometimes skip some pages, as they are not relevant to me. In fiction books I never skip pages.

No, I think if I did I would miss something important and would be confused when reading farther on.

No way! I couldn't imagine skipping parts of a book (even if it is boring :D). I like to know every single thing that the story includes and feel that I am missing out if I skip any part of it!

I admit to it! I'm a skimmer, devouring some books far too quickly, while simply skimming a page for the gist of the info!

It depends on the book. If the book is a really,fast-paced read and interesting, then I don't skip pages. If I am in a part of a book that seems really boring or like it is dragging on, then I will skip pages or at least skim pages so I still know what is going on until the story gets interesting again.

I just can't get myself to skip pages while I'm reading. Even if its a slow a part in the book. I just can't. Its like cheating to me. However, I have found myself skimming to the end of a paragraph or page if I"m in the middle of something good. Like if an argument has broken out, I'll skim to the end of the paragraph to see how it'll end. I just hate it when I do that though. :/ Its kind of annoying.

Only if the author seems to go on what I consider a far-reaching tangent -- not really a sub-plot, nothing to do with the story, just a long round-about way to add pages and word length to the book.

I never ever skip pages, if I want to skip ahead in the story, I'll usually pull up wiki lol. But then regret doing so afterwards.

The author put their "blood, sweat and tears" into the book and deserves to be read completely. I may not like the writing style or sometimes wonder what the point ofthe story it, but I feel they deserve my respect. I read every word.
