I wish this wasn't true, but yes, sometimes
Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.

I love long books so when I pick up a book that's only about 200-300 pages I get disappointed. That doesn't mean I won't still read it if it looks good.

For me, I find the woven story is how I choose to read it, or even by a friends recommendation. With that said books are like movies in a way, some are better when made for tv in an hour (no time to invest but liking the entertainment) and some are better drawn out until you feel like part of the movie (like titanic). But for the most part there is a standard that most authors stick to like the typical hour and a half-two hour movie.

Personally this depends on the book. If it is a small book and looks like I can read it in a hour tops then I will try to see if I can borrow the book. To me the more pages the better. I don't know about you but I don't want to send ten bucks on a book that I can finish in a day, especially if it is a series of 200-300 page books. So it doesn't effect my decision to read them but it does effect whether I am going to spend the money on them.

No it doesn't. In fact the longest the book, the better. I like long books, but chose books by their plot.

I would only bother about page count while reading Dostoevsky or Tolstoy :D

I disagree :) Look at The Great Gatsby; it's very short yet considered one of the greatest contemporary novels. Also look at the order of the phoenix in the harry potter series; It's extremely long and though it's good its not the best of the 7 books. I think it depends on the author and the story and can't be generalised :)

It depends what I am in the mood for. I don't check page numbers, but if the book looks thick or thin. If I am in the mood to read for a while then I would get the thicker book, but if I just feel like passing a little time, I would choose the thinner one.

In some ways, yes. If you've ever heard the saying dont judge a book by its cover, that exactly what some people do. When first seeing a book, you look at the cover art, then if that intrigues you, you look on the back or inside cover to read the synopsis. If the summary given does not fully protray the contents of the book, I will pass it by.

Absolutely not! Of course, I prefer a longer book, but as long as the content is well written, page number isn't important.

It depends on my mood and what activities I have planned for the day. I do not like short stories that are only 40-50 pages long, but I also find myself getting bored with a book that is 700 pages long if it is just filled with fluff. The short story would have to be written by an author I like in order for me to read it.

I love poems, love short stories, love novels. Can't discriminate based on size, ammiright?? lol The only size-deterent I can think of is if the book is super big/hardcover, then it's too heavy for me to lug around in my purse all day. But that's why I have a Nook-- I can download all the heavy books my little heart desires.
