No, I find it beyond distracting. I tend to sing along rather than focus on reading. I do love music when I am writing though.

Do not listen to music at the same time as reading it would bother me and get in the way of the story being in my head

I don't actively turn music on while I'm reading, however I can read anywhere, any time, with and noise around me and still get caught in the book so it does not bother me to have music on.

It depends on my mood because I tend to sing along the song if I feel like it. Although if I'm reading I choose very soft music, sometimes classical.

I'm always listening to music, but when I'm reading I have to go with softer tunes like Opera, and Classical.

It actually depends. I may love listening to music while reading if it goes along with the book.

I usually prefer to read in silence. The only way I can read while listening to music, is if the music is purely instrumental. Otherwise, I will pay attention to the lyrics too much and get distracted from my book.

I love listening to instrumental music while reading too. I'm very rarely anywhere silent that I can read so I prefer to have some music there so I can focus better.

But the lyrics would probably distract me too so I almost always go for instrumental. I have lots of great instrumental music playlists bookmarked!

I can NOT have music playing while I read. I start to mix up the two and think I am seeing words from the song inside the book. But background noise doesn't bother me (like, train noise or people in a restaurant). But I also have terrible listening skills so I probably wouldn't notice the music anyway. It's pointless.

Music often distracts me far too much to read, so typically I don't listen to music while I read

I don't usually listen to music while reading, but sometimes I'll bring a book with me when I'm riding in the car, and will listen to music while reading then.

I love music in general. I listen to it when I'm working and sometimes when I'm reading. Depending on the place, and the moment will determine.

I guess it must be pretty common for people to read and listen to music at the same time, if books now come with soundtracks and e-readers are equipped to play music as well...
