I get so easily distracted by the smallest things. I need complete silence when I am reading a novel. However, when I am reading a magazine I do enjoy nice background music.

I've tried reading with music several times but it does not work for me. I need almost complete silence to read.

I prefer not to, because if the music is good, I will start dancing or singing along and not focus clearly on my book.

I don't listen to music when I read, I find it too distracting, but I do like some sort of background noise, like being in public or animals running about the house.

I agree, I either fully concentràte on the book or the music. But if the music didn't have words, then I could listen to it while I read.

If the book is really interesting, I can, but usually it's too distracting

I can't stand distraction while I read, so I don't listen to music if I can help it.

I only listen to music when reading if it is being used as some sort of memory aid. Normally music removes me from the world I am exploring. The only exception to this is if I am trying to block out some annoyance and read at the same time, then the headphones come out.

Yes, I have a radio on my phone, similar to pandora, and there's a station called "reading" that plays soft classical music
