Have just finished reading "Freedom" - Jonathan Franzen. I must admit that I was left a bit let down with this novel. Its not bad, it just does not grab you and make you want to read it in one sitting. I would give it 7.5/10.

I finished it over the weekend and I give it six out of five stars.

It's got to be the best war novel I ever read. It touches on many emotions and gives the reader a front row seat to the life experiences a soldier faces when deployed.

I can't recommend it enough.

Book: Jack Fish
Author: J. Milligan

Jack Fish on his first mission ordered to assassinate a man. He is from Elder of Atlantis. Fish drifts to the shore of Coney Island. Jack is noticeable human. First he must adapt to land, mostly learn how to breathe then gather details from fun odd-ball funny characters he meets though out to try to complete his mission. Along the way he experiences new things like TV, beer, foods, bars, clubs, music, getting beat up, etc. Although Jack comes off passive and dull no worries because everyone else stands out as they are full of life with pure randomness at times. Its also kind of a love letter to New York. I would highly recommend this book if you're from New York or love the city as you will catch to most of the jokes and you'll understand all the areas he stumbles into. The book is just straight fun, comedy, fast paced, adventurism, quick read.

Recommended if you're into unique comedies or quick escape of something new, and like i said before from New York or appreciated the city.

I am hoping for a sequel. The Author did mention something about "Jack Blow Fish" sometime ago if he builds a bigger fan base.

8/10

I've just finished The Salt Point by Paul Russell and my rating is 3/5

I wonder if Paul Russell is a gay because of this novel and his other craft The Gay 100..

Finished 'Slammerkin' by Emma Donoghue last night ... very enjoyable read and an ending I didn't expect. I would take issue with her handling of a few scenes in the book but all in all a superb read.
Deserving of all the good reviews I'd read .... 9/10

A Slow Death, about killer David Parker Ray in New Mexico, i rate it a 7.5 out of 10, well written and chilling, shame the dirtbag died just a year into his sentence for his sickening crimes.

I think I remember watching something about him. He's the guy that tortured all those women before killing them right and died of a heart attack?

Yep, he was real white trash, lived in a town called Truth or Consequences South Mexico, he had a lifelong perversion for raping and torturing women for weeks at a time before killing them and dumping bodies, which were never found, so he was convicted based on the evidence of a woman who escaped. Really disturbing to read extracts from an audiotape he would play to his victim when she awoke in a dark room naked and bound up, in which he would detail exactly how he would rape and degrade them for the next few weeks, his youngest victim was 10.

Hope its hot enough down there, Ray.

Yep that's the same guy I watched on an episode of Most Evil on the Science Channel. He was sick and I'm glad he's dead.
