A man goes to bed in his new apartment and wakes up in a hospital bed. What happened & how did he get to the hospital. This is the first book by Anne Tyler that I have read, and while it's no thriller, I found it a surprisingly intriguing read. It's an interesting analysis of how people manage to avoid life & it's demands and complications. I've added her to my list so that I can follow up on some more of her books. I would rate it 7/10

The book from start to finish is a diary of one young man and his various adventures in the world of oral sex, drunken games, practical jokes and disease spreading, he made me sick and this is a guy who graduated with first class honors from law school. I only bought the book as it looked like something different and was a New York best seller.

Mike .... You're a straight talking reviewer. Can't wait for your review of The Finkler Question

Na nothing like that at all ... I put my comments on the last book read thread & I'm still damned if I can figure why it got the Booker.StephenKingman wrote:Fran, im currently reading the latest King book and then im gonna read The Finkler Question, as im curious now. To be honest, i know nothing about the author or book, it was bought on impulse subliminally from this forum so im looking forward to it now, variety is a good thing, any haunted hotels or sewer-dwelling clowns in it? I can but hope ha.

Chief Superintendent Ferrara is a superb character & the city of Florence can only be described as a magnificent backdrop. Gets a 9/10 from me.
