Yes and no. If the person is studying for school or something for work then yes it would be rude. However if this person is reading for fun and someone needs help with someone I don't see a problem with it.

I find it quite annoying when people talk to me while reading. I don't think they purposefully try to sabotage my reading time!

Depends on why you are interrupting. But I hate it when people interrupt me :(

Yes!!! Please wait until you see that I have averted my attention from the page, then interrupt. Otherwise leave me alone.

Yes, it's rude. I like to stand in front of the person reading so he or she knows I'm waiting. Then when they finish a sentence they look up and I say whatever I need to say.

Hell yeah. If someone interrupted me, I'd never speak to hum again.

Theoretically speaking, I'd say yes, it's rude, don't do it, and I STILL feel bad for accidentally interrupting my sister when she was at a particularly exciting bit of one of her favorite books, Divergent. But as for myself, interrupting me when I'm reading is pretty much a necessity, since I'm ALWAYS reading, and have been known to get so lost in the story so thoroughly that I'll forget to eat or shower or sleep.

Absolutely. I don't mind if you have something important to say or need. But interrupting just to chit chat? Very rude

Hah! A year ago I would have said no big deal, but now I say yes to anyone but my husband and kids. I have my down time, and that is exactly as stated, MY down time. It has become exceedingly important to me, as of late, to respect that I am using my limited time to relax and unwind.

I'm not sure if it's considered rude to interrupt someone when they're reading, but I do know that no one wants to be disturbed when they have a book in hand. Most people just can't seem to get the hint.

It's my opinion that there will almost be no polite people since they cannot help but interrupt while someone is reading (I'm guilty of it as well), so I feel that it's more of how a person interrupts you while reading that counts.

That, however, does not stop me from being very frustrated, especially when they call or text me just to chit chat about nothing in particular. And then I become the rude party instead...

Depends, if it is some random stranger interrupting my reading then yes I think it is rude but it also depends on the situation, if I'm at a gathering and reading then it would be rude of me to be reading instead of socializing.

If it's my husband or kids I don't care. I read with the thought that they may need me at any second in mind.

It depends on the book your reading and what the interruption is for.
