Re: Does Page Count Affect Your Decision To Read A Book Or N

The length of a book doesn't really persuade or dissuade me from reading, it's how intrigued I am by the plot, characters, etc.

I'm less likely to read short books. Anything under 250 words I probably won't read.

I prefer longer books. It gives me more time in a more interesting world. But not essential.

I have turned away books because they have too little pages. I'm talking around 80 pages. I couldn't help but think, what story can you possibly tell in 80 pages?? I think after reading the Harry Potter books and The Goldfinch, I wouldn't turn down a book for having too many pages. If it's a good story, all the better that it will last longer!

No, I feel the big the book the more detail in the story, I like high paged books like 400 pages -1,000 pages.

Never read short stories? They are like literary snack food. Tasty and enjoyable without filling you up. Short books can be the same.

Side note: for a chuckle sometime Google "book-a-minute" - ultra condensed books. I think the actual website is rinkworks or something like that. Some funny funny stuff.. IMHO

I don't really let page number affect my decision to read a book. I'd rather base that decision on what the book is about and whether its something I think I would be interested in rather than how many pages the book has.

I don't usually pay attention to page count. If the story summary clicks with me I'll give it a try.

Page count does impact my decision, but it depends on what else is going on at that time. If I'm especially busy, I'll pick a novella over a 500-page book. If I don't have much going on, I'll lean toward a longer work.

Not really. I am discouraged by short books (less than 300pgs) but other than that the longer the better! right now i am reading King's "The Stand" which is about 1400 pages long and I am already more than halfway done and still intrigued !

I personally don't mind how many pages. It's how good the story is.

Nah, it doesn't matter to me. However, sometimes I get intimated by books that are longer than my attention span :P I usually read them anyway, though
