Paperback or Hardcover?

Hardcover all day long. I’m very serious about maintaining the condition of my books. Hardcovers are heavier, yes, but they stay in much better shape, and they have slipcovers to protect the book itself from getting damaged.

If it's going to be a book that i purchased to keep, it would be hardcover. I read both though. I just feel like the paperback tare to easy, then the book looks all tacky. I know, I'm weird, but hardcover it is!

I prefer both. Though hard covers tends to last longer

I see this is a very old forum, but no less relatable.
I appreciate a paperback when I read, but a hardcover for when I want to gift the book or line it up in a shelf

I prefer paperback books to read when I carry books with me, but if I’m just reading a small book at home, I like reading hardcover books.

Paperbacks are more practical. They are easy to carry. Hardcovers are more beautiful

I prefer the hardcover edition because of the paper and print quality. Unless I cannot afford it, I rarely choose paperback.

I love paper backs. It is easier to carry around. Maybe I'm lazy, but my hard cover is kind of weightier

Hi I like paperbacks as I have pain in my hands and find the weight of hardbacks makes it worse o this doen't stop me reading hardbacks if I really really can't wait for the paperback to come out!

Paperback. It’s lighter and easier to take with me and if I fall asleep reading it doesn’t hurt as bad when I drop it on my face.

I own both, but my go to is paperbacks since they are cheaper and they take up less space on your shelf which means more books! Hardbacks do have a better look to them. If I have a series that I really love I would probably get the set in hardback to show them off.

Paperback. No contest! (Who doesn't like to snuggle up with something that's roughly the size and shape of a brick and almost as heavy??? Who needs to lift weights when turning the pages of the family Tolstoy cuts your upper arms, hold the door open on hot summer nights and doubles as a floatation device when the tide rolls in?

i would say paperbacks because they’re much easier to handle, and if you’re careful, you won’t create the covers and the book will remain in good condistion. hardbacks look gorgeous on a shelf but i can never comfortably hold them
