Murder mysteries because I hate all the gore, suspense, and emotional anguish they bring. I have never read one voluntarily.

I'm not sure why exactly, but I usually don't read books including ghosts! I've tried a few and they end up boring me! :!:

Not really a genre but any book that has a picture of feet on the cover. Sometimes legs are shown but never faces. It's most common in YA fiction and means they will fall in love, have a short and unhealthy relationship, break up, and then learn a valuable life lesson. They're predictable and annoying.

Science Fiction and Fantasy because I simply can't relate to the concept. Horror and Paranormal because I'm neither religious or superstitious.

Romance, because I can't get excited about whether 2 people I don't know end up in bed together. When they try to mix it with other genres, the characters come across as eejits, because they're supposed to be dealing with some serious situation, and they instead they act like sex-crazed teenagers. Like, "He knew his best friend would bleed to death if he didn't get some pressure on the bullet wound, but right now the only pressure he could think of was the pressure of her body on his..."
I am laughing out loud! What a GREAT sample quote!

I really try to avoid horrors; for the main reason that it's scary and I just may have nightmares.

I always find reading to be more vivid than a movie or show, for the sole reason that my mind has no limits and would imagine my worst fears to life.

I tend to stay away from non-fiction or historical fantasy. I just can't really get into those that much. I am surprised that some people here don't like YA. I practically grew up in the YA section of my library and I love it. I actually went to a panel at a convention once that discussed the appeal of YA and why it is a good market to write in. It was a good panel with Cynthia Williams Chima and a few other authors (one of which wrote Gamer Girl but I forget her name). It really got me back into the genre as of late.

I read pretty much anything but non-fiction (unless it sounds really good). For example, one of the only non-fiction books I chose to read was Paddy by R.D. Lawrence.
Think, believe, manifest.

I steer clear of science fiction and horror-satanic. Sci-fi is simply not my cup of tea, and horror - satanic i find a little childish and non-believable.

I try not to stay away from any particular genre because I want to make sure that i don't close any doors to a certain genre that could contain a really good book but due to its category I will avoid. However I have found that from reading different genres I tend to dislike romance books as I find them predictable and boring. Even so if someone recommended a romance book saying it was really good I would still try to read it for myself despite the genre.

I tend to stay away from Science Fiction books. I have always related more to "real" situations and people than anything else.

I don't care for most non-fiction, except for an occasional biography, or a "how to" book. And I don't read horror.

Non-fiction. I live in the real world everyday. I read to escape from it not to hear it from another's point of view.

I stay away from horror books because I start imagining as if all demons are going to come and attack me and I hate demons.
