Nope, I was not born a reader. As a matter of fact, I had a really hard time reading in school. I was put through tests that included different size fonts, different color transparency sheets over the pages, etc. I think my issue was/is a slight form of dyslexia. In elementary school, I was placed in a 'club' of sorts that focused on reading comprehension. They made it fun and made the stories relate-able. However, with all things school, it can't be all about things that you enjoy reading. For example in High School we had to read The Grapes of Wrath. OMG, I could not stand it. I know this is a favorite of many, however, for me the book was ruined by continually making us dissect every written word to find symbolism. So now as a 30+ year old, I read for me. Some silly, some very serious, some that hold you at the edge of your seat, depending on where my mood takes me. So Now I am a reader. Wish I could do it more. And almost always either have a book or my e-reader on me. You never know when you will have a few extra minutes to get lost in the world of someone else's story.

As an only child, and daughter of two very busy, hardworking parents reading was an obvious choice of activity. You're never alone when you're all wrapped up in a good book! I have very distinct memories of reading the Roald Dahl books and feeling like the characters were my actual friends!

I definitely have always been a reader. There was a large chunk of time though between I'd say 14 and 22 that I was focused a lot more on games. Now that I have my own place and my son is 10 I find that I'm focusing on reading a lot more then I ever have. I'll be a reader till the day I die I'm sure!

Oh yes, I have always loved reading. I used to read everything. The cereal box, shampoo bottles, junk mail. I just loved to read. I used to read while walking to school, and under the blanket with a light from my alarm clock. After middle school I found it difficult to find books that interested me and by high school I became so busy I didn't read for pleasure as much. Now, I don't read books as much as I would like but when I get into a good book, I just can't do anything else. Sometimes I am afraid to start.

I was pretty much always a reader. I remember my parents reading to my brother and I nearly every night. They were both fairly avid readers but my mother was more so. Through her, I got into reading romance novels. It was something that she, her mother and grandmother all participated in. They would read the books, review them with a star scale and share them with each other. It was a pretty neat system and through it I could learn a little bit more about my grandmother and great-grandmother through the reviews they left behind.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS.

My mom raise me by herself while she was still in college and working, a tough situation for a single mom. She hardly had time to study but most nights I would crawl into bed with her and she would read her Architecture textbooks out loud to me. While they may have been boring textbooks, something about them sparked my love for books. I may not have known how to read quite yet, but I learned far earlier than most kids.

Yes! Well, I mean, since I learned how to properly read. But from the end of kindergarten on, I pretty much always had a book in my hand. Extended family members who have met me once always mention that to me when we meet again as an adult.

When I was little, I always enjoyed being read to. In elementary school, I started reading because of Pizza Hut's BOOK IT! program. I loved their personal pan pizzas, and so I would read as much as possible to get as many pizzas as possible. Then around middle school, I started reading more because I enjoyed it. In high school, I always had a book on me, and read during any free moment. Sadly, in college I was too busy reading books for classes, that I did not get to do much reading for fun. Almost a year out of college, I am just now starting to get back into reading more again! I have at least 15 books started right now, and I just keep going back and forth with them all.

I have been an avid reader ever since 1st grade. I have ADD, so through much of my life I had trouble with books that took too much concentration, preferring mostly mysteries and science fiction. I was finally diagnosed and put on medication at age 45, and a whole new world of books opened up for me! I still get a giddy feeling when I think that I can now read any book!

I started reading very young, but in elementary school I wasn't a huge fan. My grandparents bribed me by paying me five bucks if I would read a book and write a summary about it. Then when I was about 12 or 13 I did a complete 180° and have had a love affair with reading ever since.

I definitely haven't always been a reader. Having mostly been forced to read when I was younger didn't endear me to the idea of reading freely. Then I didn't like books at all, but overtime I fell in love with books and reading to the point it takes up most of my free time and attention. ahh! my bibliophile love affair. while I may not have always been a reader I definitely am now.

No, I wasn't, in fourth grade I was placed in special class because I couldn't read well. In fifth grade, Mrs. England turned my world around. I haven't put a book down since!

yes! I remember reading treasure island, then sharing the story with my grandfather. However, my favorite book when I was young was Charlettes Webb which I read aloud every chance I got to anyone who would listen.
