Have you ever been upset at a character in a book?

Yes. I've experienced that many times. Especially if the author had portrayed his characters excellently.

Yes! There have been plenty characters that make such questionable decisions that I have to close the book and breath in from the exasperation that I feel.

Yes! So many times! It's usually at the main character when they make a stupid decision that I know is going to lead them to problems. When that happens I usually close the book and take a deep breath before I continue to read.

There are few book which are very emotionally touching. Some of the characters provide a huge impact that may make you feel back.

Yes, when the character is far too good or fair, or when the character is far too bad. I don't like exagerations.

Yes, read lot of books and it is not possible to pinpoint the exact reasons..Be it may be the protagonist or the villain..

I’m so glad I found this forum. YES. LOL I even asked my son and my niece, who are also avant- readers this very question. There was a book about a girl separated from her family. She actually at some point reunited with them and her attitude towards her parents were so arrogant!!! I spent all that time reading and waiting fir a reunion just so this brat of a character can behave rudely. I felt bad for the parents and everything lol. I put the book down and stopped reading for a while. I suppose I have the character the silent treatment? Lol!!!!

Yes, they can be so stupid sometimes. I just smack my forehead and shake my head, then give them a whispered, vehement lecture that goes basically along the lines of "how can you be so stupid?

Yes. I remember reading a book 'It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover'. I was angry on main male character of this book. I couldn't believe on what he did.

Yes, usually it's if characters are boring. Sometimes it's annoying if a character is conceited or vain.
One specific character that comes to mind is Séverin in The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. I hated what he said to Laila towards the end of the first book, even after everything they had been through. It was uncalled for and rude. For some reason, it still makes me angry whenever I recall it.

All the time! Sometimes I get second-hand embarrassment from their choices that is so bad that I need to put the book down for awhile.

I find it hard to get upset at a chatacter in a book. I usually do with movie characters though.

Yes. I got upset, more like irritated with Catherine Earnshaw, the so called heroine of Wuthering Heights. I simply hated her for not choosing Heathcliff. I found her character unbearably obnoxious.
