I cannot read anything that is crime-related especially if it is violent. There's just too much going on in the world today and I don't want to read about it in my books.

I'm not at all fond of some of the "best selling authors" and their penchant for whodunit books. Their characters seem cardboard overall and their plots are so overdone. I don't read horror, either. You'd have to live in a bubble not to know monsters exist in real life, but I really don't want to read about them. I'm cool on YA. Something has to be pretty compelling about the plot to draw me in. I don't do non-fiction--except for research (and I do a lot of that!).

Erotic Romance novels, especially if the person on the cover is more attractive then me. I find them to be lacking in writing skills and character development. It all seems to be about getting a significant other and having great sex. Not really a 'Mentally' stimulating read.

I enjoy most genres except horror. I've tried to read it, and I really get nothing from it.

Also, Sally, I completely agree with you. Erotic Romance tends to be a bunch of nonsense with no real direction (other than sex) or depth.

I agree, Sally, Erotic novels leave a lot to be desired. For romance authors, the ending just has to be a "happy for now" ending. How satisfying is that? Perhaps for some, but I find it tedious. On the other hand, horror is anything but. I wouldn't live in such a circumstances. I absolutely won't read it. Nothing about it appeals.

I love that historicals--and I really love ancient history. I'm reading an excellent one right now--part one of a 3 part series. So far, I'm not even a little disappointed.

Science fiction, because I usually cannot relate to it.
Erotic fiction because I don't share the morals of the ones doing the writing.
Horror because I do not like being horrified.
Fantasy because I cannot relate.

I stay away non-fiction history too! I do however enjoy a book that manipulates history in a way or implants it into the story to make it more realistically clever in a sense. I just started finding joy in reading non-fiction books though so who knows where my interests will follow.

I tend to stay away from horror because I do not like being frightened. Also non-fiction unless its a topic I like or need to read for school or work.

I've never been interested in the Science Fiction genre - I'm like another person who posted - I just can't identify with the plot or the characters.

I don't read much non-fiction books. Unless they are history. I do like history topics I am interested in. And I also don't mind a good self-help or inspirational book. Those are enjoyable, if they are on a optimistic topic. But I don't care much for non-fiction books with topics that are uninteresting to me.
