You keep going! Way to persevere!

For me, I am currently trying to ween myself by using the same technique smokers have been. I have switched to Ebooks instead of the real thing. When I sniff them, they do not have the same ingredients, like pulp and ink, so I am able to feel like I am still sniffing real books without any of the harmful side effects or addictive properties. One day soon, I hope to be completely free to pass a book without the urge to even take a single sniff! :D

It's one of the best parts of getting a new book! My boyfriend thinks I'm a little crazy for doing it but I can deal with that, it's worth it.

Yes! Indeed! The scent of a novel gives the reader a more enticing experience as opposed to reading something on a computer screen. The old early 1900's books have a scent that takes you back as you read.

Hi everyone! I LOVE the smell of books! I can't quite distinguish one book from another by smell, only that one is definitely older than the other. Older books tend to have a deeper kind of musky smell, to me at least. They do make candles nowadays that smell like books :) I purchased a candle from FrostBeard Studio, online, "old book scent" and I love it! Bit on the pricey, to me, but well worth it. During my time on the ship (navy) you can't bring too many hardcopy books with you, but you can load your ipad (me) or nook or what have you and make it through any deployment. So now I find myself with books I love, without the smell, so it just feels...wrong. Anyhow, it's kind of amazing to hear of others who love the smell of books too!

I really love to smell books. I am so glad that there are so many people right here admitting that book smells are just great all the time. I feel as though a smell of a good book will wake me up better and faster than a cup of coffee would. :D

Oh my God. Yes. I thought I was a freak for doing this. I LOVE to sniff books. Honestly, I bring them close to my face and just sniff them. xD If I'm in public, like, in the store or something, I hold them like, "Oh, wow, I'm so excited I'm buying this, allow me to cling to it," and then I bring it up to my face for a discreet sniff. xP

This is SO funny! I am happy to share that I too sniff books. There is something about the smell of a book that is really wonderful. What I really like to do is get a great paperback and run my fingers along the pages like you would if you were flipping through them to find something. While I'm fanning the pages you can smell the pages and print.

I always through I was the only one who did something like this, it's great to know I'm not alone!

I have been addicted book sniffer for a very long time. I developed withdrawl symptoms when I started pretty much exclusivley using an e-reader. I do go to Barnes and Nobles to browse titles and authors and to smell the the books. I actually stick my face right in the book! My favorite are the big books with the shiney pages (kind of like National Geographic - which I also love).

I love the smell of books as well, especially new ones. I don't go around sniffing books all day though, nor do I think one can distinguish one book from another by smell... 8)

Im guilty of that. But just old books. Newer books smell like chemicals, no fun in sniffing that.

Yes, I absolutely love the smell of books. Especially old ones. They take me back to in time and fill my imagination with what it was like to read it the first time around! Some books smell familiar and make me feel safe picking them from the shelf. If I am at a bookstore, I will secretly smell the book before deciding to add to my collection. :P
