I enjoy reading and eating at the same time, but then I get too engrossed in the book and eventually stop eating!

I am also guilty of that! It sometimes makes me mad when I start out with a hot snack/beverage and then forget about it till it goes cold. Some books just happen to be better than food!

I can ride a stationary bike or run on an elliptical while reading, and could possibly knit (if I were better at knitting!), but otherwise no. I always get nervous when I see people driving and reading a book - for those of you that do PLEASE stop! Audio books exist for a reason. :)

Honestly, it's SO hard for me to have any distractions while reading-especially when I drink coffee (which I usually need to get me going on a book binge). Between random noises outside such as the leaves rustling or bird chirping, or bright lights such as the T.V. or a movie, I cannot pay attention. I usually have to be secluded in a dark room with headphones in, and music up.

So music doesn't distract you then? I find that I can only listen to either music in foreign languages or music without lyrics, otherwise I get distracted by it. I can't even listen to instrumental covers/versions of lyrical songs that I know!

I have always wanted to be able to multitask while I read, but it is incredibly impossible for me. If I take my eye off the page even for a second I will lose my place, and end up re-reading the same paragraph over and over.

I wish I could do that but I can't. Ive tried so many times and even listening to music while reading gets hard because my attention is so easily changed from one thing to another that I just end up sitting on my bed with the door closed.

I become too involved in a book to focus on anything else. Multitasking is nigh impossible.

I can't multi-task because when I concentrate on a book, I really do it and get into the book. So no multitasking for me.

I can definitely read, and multitask. Not that you can completely comprehend the book while doing it, but..

You cannot be in two worlds at the same time....either you are in reality doing something...or reading a book!!

Can't do both!!

I can multitask while reading. In my case, it also strangely make me focus more on the book. Although, in some case, like when I have to study, I have to only read the book and do nothing else just to make my creativity flow and "multitask" by creating links between my reading and everything else. Is anyone else like me ?

I can read and write down notes during study time. I did this amazing feat in graduate school. I can eat, read, and listen to music at the same time, thanks to school. If the book is really good, then I focus all my attention to the book. Usually I am up all night reading the book from start to finish. Good thing I do this on the weekends.

I can watch tv or listen to music while studying for classes, but reading for pleasure is a different story. I am so zoned in on my books that I don't know what is going on around me and if I am interrupted, I get very frustrated.

Well, it depends.
sometimes I listen to music or leave the TV on while reading light literature or short articles.
