Sometimes. What I listen to varies - I may try to pick music based on my mood, or whether I think it goes well with the book itself. Other times I just say "Eh, whatever" and turn on some random tunes.

Sometimes I enjoy music while I read. Most of the times it's to block out the noise. Sometimes I read on road trips and have the radio playing in the back ground but it does not bother me. Other I'm times I really enjoy silence and get lost in what the author is saying.

I have such a difficultly listening to music or talking and reading a book at the same time. My boyfriend likes to listen to music while he works on homework, but I can't focus when I try it. Sometimes I can listen to soft classical music while I study, but when I read for fun I usually prefer it to be silent in the room. Sometimes I can read in a noisy classroom or public place, though! Maybe it depends on how engulfed in the story I am. :)

If I listen to music it has to be instrumental and soothing. Nothing loud or uptempo.

I love listening to music while reading. and then when I hear the song again it usually reminds me of that book.

I prefer silence, because it feels like I can totally lose myself in that book without the presence of music. However, I can listen if it's soft or background instrumental/classical. Any words or lyrics will distract me from reading. I like reading as a relaxing and quiet time, so I usually read in silence.

I do not. I must be alone in a room when I start out reading a book. Once I'm hooked I can pretty much read anywhere.

I guess it depends on the music and what I'm reading. I like to listen to movie soundtracks, especially Hans Zimmer's music, when I'm doing homework. It helps to drown out everything around me. But if I'm reading a novel, then I like to have it quiet. Any type of music in that case usual distracts me from what I'm reading. However, I am able to tune out the t.v. when my husband watches basketball, or any other sport, and really focus on what I'm reading.

No, never. Actually I can't stand the absolute silence when I'm alone, so I have to listen to music or watch TV while doing everything else, but when it comes to reading I want to concentrate on the story and every little sound bothers me and distracts me.

I do not listen to music while I read as I find both occupations need a different level of concentration. I like to give both my full attention. As an afterthought I would not take a book to a concert!

Usually just ambient music or similar stations on Songza. After a while, if I'm really into the book, it goes in the background, but it distracts other parts of my brain from thinking of other things while I'm reading.

I can read with noise around. But if I would sit down in my home to read a book it would always be in silence. I love the calm atmosphere. I can then enter the world of the book without being interrupted by noise from the outside world ;)
