I tend to stay away from Romance novels, being that most of the romance is not the real, true kind of romance I actually want to read about anyway.

I do like to get lost in a book and relax! I don't read science fiction unless someone says it was such a great book and it is a must read!

Romance novels are what I tend to stay away from, mostly because I don't think that they are that well written.

I try to stay away from Dystopias, because they tend to end in tragedy. Or, even if they don't, lots of people die in between, so much so that it's a tragedy.

Although I love a good mystery or thriller, I will not read a cozy mystery novel. I like my mystery to be a little more hardcore.

Romance cause most of them are just too sappy and the covers are off-putting.

I usually stay clear of non fiction, history, science, and horror. because they are just not my thing. I would not read these book because they are not in my comfort zone and I like reading for fun and I usually do not find any fun in reading books of these genres.

Erotic lit. I simply find it all a bit gross.

Erotic, horror and forensic thrillers.
Erotic ; just because i say so
Horror; not interested in thinking an hour about "why did that door swung?"
Forensic thrillers; because the when i opened made me nauseated.
I really enjoys romance in other genres, but the genre itself doesn't appeal me much. But i read it anyway :d

I steer clear of heavily detailed historical fiction. Most who write in this genre tend to add too many unnecessary details in an attempt to show how much research they've done on their subject. For example, I do not need to know how much food was purchased for a particular dinner or how much money was spent on flower arrangements. If you are writing about the upperclass it is safe to assume ridiculous amounts of money are being spent and the affair will be lavish.

I stray away from most non-fiction and romance. I like biographies, and every once in a great while I'll find a romance worth reading. I think that most romance books tend to be very typical.

Non-fiction definitely, I like to read and it not feel like a history class :P Though i read books that are based on events (like books about the yellow fever and black plague) but I like them more as a story.
And steamy romance novels and romance in general I stay away from.
