I don't particularly like the smell of old books but I can't help but smile when the scent of and old musty book passes under my nose. I associate the smell with fond memories. :D

I thought I was alone in this particular secret indulgence but I too love to sniff the pages of books, new and old. My daughter caught me inhaling the pages of a new book , my eyes rolling back in ecstasy. I had to explain myself to her, how the smell of books stoke my imagination about what adventure awaits in the pages. A few weeks later I caught my daughter sniffing the pages of the book she was reading, which absolutely melted my heart. I also love the smell of libraries and bookstores, but that's another story.

I love the smell of old books, but they make me sneeze from the dust.

Yes, I am a book sniffer and I don't care who knows it. LoL My Kindle can not give me the high I get when I feel and sniff the pages of a hardcover book. Aaaaaah.
Wishing you a terrific read, Chrystal

I like to sniff some books, especially new ones. Also enjoy the way some new books sort of 'creak' while opening. I'm not sure if it's a mixture of glue and paper I'm smelling, but I love it. So far, old books, the ones I own anyway, don't have an interesting smell for me.

haha!

Yes my name is Phoebe Moon and I sniff books.

It is strange isn't it how they do retain their individual smell even when stored away for ages with other books.

There's nothing in the world like walking into a really old, dank second hand book shop.

If there is anyone here that lives in the UK the absolute best second hand book shop is Baggins' Book Shop in Rochester, Kent. It's truly delightful. It's HUGE and has lots of little side rooms and nooks and crannies. I could literally spend all day there.

I always check the scent of used books to make sure that they're not moldy or saturated with the smell of tobacco smoke.

I had no idea there were so many book sniffers out there.

*wipes tear of happiness*

Brothers and sisters, we are not alone!

Just a note, I was sad the other day. I ordered a copy of Lorna Doone online, it was a used copy. BIG mistake. Smelled like cat piss. Actually, it REEKED of cat piss. I had to throw the book out. *sadface*
