I like modern just because its modern lol but I like historical also because back then they had different views and morals, sex before marriage was a terrible thing, so maybe I enjoy breaking the rules a bit. I like to read books that have characters who "break the rules" of society or whoever. I enjoy a nice steamy love story just as much as the next girl, maybe even more

I read mostly historical because I like to disappear in another time where everything is so different as to how men and women relate to each other. However, I also do enjoy a modern romance as long as it is realistic and fast paced. The 50 Shades of Grey were good but I always seem to return to regency romances.

I love historical romances. I'm intrigued about everything about them- the dialogue, the manner of dress, the rules of society. I actually starting reading historical by accident when I purchased a book whose description didn't convey that it was historical, and there was no evidence on the cover. Although disappointed by the mistake at first, I decided to go ahead and give it a try, and I'm glad I did.

I love historical. I think it's because finding love wasn't always expected like it is now and that makes it extra romantic and exciting for me.

I have really gotten into the paranormal romance novels, especially Sherrilyn Kenyon, she is one of my favorite authors.

Historical romance is my first love. I dabble with contemporary and paranormal but there is just something about historical... the imagery, the different customs, the general everyday way of life. Jo Beverley was the first romance author I ever read.

Although I do like contemporary romances, historical is my favorite. I love the Wallflower series and Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas, and Earls Just Want to Have Fun by Shana Galen.

I didn't think that this post would receive this much response so I'm really happy about everyone's replies. It's also nice to hear of books and series' that I've never heard before. It's not good on my bank account but oh well.

Admittedly, I've been delving more into erotica and during my book sale shopping spree, I bought plenty of historical romance novels. I just recently bought the first 'explicit' book I read which is Double Fantasy by Cheryl Holt. I've read more erotic books but that was my first.

By far my favorite is Historical!!! Doesn't matter if it's erotica or not. Historical books sweep you away from the everyday humdrum of the modern time to another world a million miles away. I always dream of what it would be like to live in another time period. The men are so chivalrous and dashing. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a time machine. lol

I like paranormal erotica. I like both Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry series. The build up of the characters as well the surrounding background plays into the story. It's very titillating.

Historical Romance and Modern Erotica is my choice. I love the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James and the Hell Yeah Series by Sable Hunter. I am also a fan of all Linda Lael Miller. Becca Van's Slick Rock Series is really great also. Kit Morgan is good for Historical Romance.

I love Diana Gabaldon series of books...they have the historical, paranormal, and sort of modern flair to them!
