Once, I started a book without reading anything about it prior, because I've read that author's couple of books. I didn't realize that authors can try out different genres too. So, no more of that.

I have also read some old books in which the jackets have disappeared along with the book's summary and therefore just had to start reading. For the most part though I think I enjoy looking at the summary/blurb just to sort of set the mood or mindset before diving into the story itself.
