how do you chose which book you want to read?

I usually wouldn't look at the summary initially. But the first thing would be the smell of those pages if my nose like it, I would shift to the summary at the back. Weird but it works every single time!

When I'm looking for new books to read/purchase, I do an online search for new book releases. For example, 'new release books of June 2020'. And I will scroll through a list of usually 30-40 books to see if any catch my eye.

I would surf for the new books in the market and also keep reading the recommendations as well as the feeds of there other book enthusiasts. And that's how I would get to decide on what to read next.

When choosing for the next book to read, I look at the title first then the summary of the book.

I add books to my TBR list mostly from recommendations from GR, GR friends/BRs, and then keeping up with favorite authors. My current TBR list has over 300 books on it and I read over 100 books a year, so I'm regularly adding to the list :)

As a child, I always used to pick books if they had an animal on the cover, in the illustrations, or if it was evident that it was an animal book. I thought John Steinbeck's The Red Pony was going to be more like My Friend Flicka and so I was disappointed. Then later I learned that Steinbeck was a fantastic author and I was like "Oh no!!!" I also used to read books that my parents had and from them, I learned author names. I also learned author names from short story collections. So, then I would just pick books by author. Now, I feel that I have ignored female writers (most of the books my parents had were written by men) so if I didn't have a lot of books to read already, then I would probably try to find some good female authors. Otherwise, I still have the list of good authors.

Usually one of two ways. I have already bought way more books than I'll ever have time to read, and I'm always buying more. Additionally, I'll scroll through Amazon or Bookshop.org and look at covers or descriptions that might catch my eye. A lot of times I'm choosing by the title or cover.

From recommendations by my friends. Sometimes, I just browse on goodreads; I look at the ratings and read some reviews.
