Do you find comfort being in a bookstore?

For me, there is nothing more comforting than the feel/smell of a book store. From new to used, it doesn't matter. I can forget my worries and get completely lost in others words and dreams. Even if it is just for a little while.

Oh, yes, I find bookstores to be very comforting. I can't really explain why--I just feel so happy whenever I'm perusing the shelves in a bookstore. It's like being a little kid running up and down the aisles of a Toys R Us. Of course, I'm not actually running when I'm shopping for new books, but I think you get the point :)

I love visiting bookstores. The smell of the bookstores and the people you can meet in your local bookstore are awesome. They're comforting and no one minds if you just sit on the floor with a book in your lap. It's what you're there for and what everyone else is there for and there's a certain level of respect, particularly in local bookstores that aren't part of a chain.

There is no where I'd rather be than a small bookstore. I want to grab an armload of the newest selections, sit in a corner and read all the summaries. I can spend hours browsing shelves. Before I leave, I must own a new book, map or something!

I love bookstores and they are the one place where I feel most comfortable. In fact, I feel welcomed.

Yes, yes . I love being in a book store . I have a salvation army store around the corner , from the building where I live in N.Y.C and they have hundreds of books . I visit that store everyday , just to look at the books . If I see a book I like and it's not part of my book collection yet, that book just found a home and someone that will definitely read it . So, yes I find at lot of comfort being at a book store . I visit Barnes & Noble once a month too. I always buy 2 books when I go, I could stay in that store for hours . It's so much fun .

I absolutely love it I can spend hours there. The quietness but not complete silence is a factor I really enjoy.

I do find a kind of comfort in walking up and down the aisles in a book store. It is a very peaceful setting as I scan the different books around me.

I saw this this morning and wanted to respond then, but was on my kindle and not on my laptop. The kindle is fine for short answers, but not longer ones like this is going to be. This is a question near and dear to my heart, and let me explain why.

When I left college, I moved to North Caroline. It was my first time "on my own". In college I lived in a dorm, and went home on weekends. In North Carolina I lived with an aunt for about a month while I got myself straightened out with my job and apartment hunting. Then I moved in to my own place. I absolutely loved it. But then my mother began having financial issues, and I was sending her money. My rent took up an entire paycheck, leaving me with $.38 cents left over. After bills and food, I was left with precious little money for entertainment. There were walks with my puppy, library days, days exploring downtown, once a month drives up into the mountains. There were also Wednesday nights where the McDonalds down the straight had $.29 hamburgers. Me and my puppy would go and I would get 4 hamburgers. Two for her, two for me. Then we went back and I made homemade fries and peach cobbler. She ate with me - but she didn't get any peach cobbler xD Sometimes they gave her free fries, because she was just too adorable. ANYWAY....

My favorite form of entertainment during this time was my Friday night book store adventure. I took $10. It was all I could afford. $10 every Friday night got me a world of entertainment. I went to the local Borders that was within walking distance. I would roam the shelves, gathering an armload of interesting books. Then I would go to the cafe, where I would either get a coffee, or a coffee and a pastry. If I got the pastry, I went home with no new book. If I skipped the pastry, I could get one cheap book. Then I would settle in to my chair with a pile of good books to go through and dream over, a hot cup of delicious coffee (and maybe a treat). And then they would bring in the live music - local bands and singers.

I always regretted not being able to buy their music. I always regretted not being able to buy more books. After I became more financially established I made it a point to patronize bookstores - particularly that specific one. I know they weren't thinking of that poor kid who just couldn't afford anything - but they helped make what could have been a bad time sweet.

So yes, I do find comfort in being in a bookstore. Not just for the nostalgia of the reason above, but just because it is a BOOKstore. And I love books. Who isn't comfortable being around what they love?

There is nothing more comforting than a book store, books all around, everything you want to read, there are so many books to explore and you always find something new and amazing. I feel so contented everytime i visit the book store and buy books.

I absolutely love going to a book store. The closest one to me is Barnes and Noble. The smells of new books mixed with coffee is a wonderful thing. I could spend a great deal of time just wandering around the shelves. I am also the same way about libraries. I just love to hang out in the library when I have a chance.
