Do you prefer Indie Authors or well established Authors?

I like both because it's fun to read a new Upcoming Author's books and grow with them and give them feedback and well established authors know what readers expect and what works best. However, I've read some debut books actually quite a few that were Grand Slam Hits right off the bat!

I'm so not a book snob. Ill look for and read books based on the plot which could mean a new York times best seller or a self published person.

It's difficult to answer because a couple of authors I adored and believed everyone must have heard of happened to be considered Indie writers. I suppose the easiest answer is I care for more for the ability of story telling and the magic within a tale, the ability to have my attention and for me to care about these characters is far more important than how well known an author may be or what circle or genre they are most well known in.

It depends on what the subject matter is. Both have their perks. Reading established authors is nice because you can have your favorites, and authors you know will deliver every time. However, reading new authors just means that you could potentially have a new favorite if they strike your fancy!

I don't care. I never check a publisher. Established, indie, self-published - as well as I like what I read, I don't give a damn. Last few years I follow my private policy to read 1 book from 1 author - unless the book is so brilliant, I want to read more (and that doesn't happen often). Only then I check the name of the author, where they are from, etc.

I don't really have a preference. If the books seems interesting, I'll read it! I suppose that an established author might better guarantee that I'd enjoy the book, but there are tons of talented up-and-coming authors and I think they all deserve a chance.

It doesn't matter to me, until the book is good.

I don't care as long as the book is well written and the plot is intriguing.

There are some well-established names I gravitate toward, but then only because I already know I'll like them. I have found that indie books tend to be rather more interesting, at least in the way they differ from the norm of what's published, and I do like the feeling that I've managed to discover something.

I like both, although here lately I've been reading more indie authors because I discover a lot of them online and through Facebook book parties. With indie authors, I tend to support them more because I feel they don't get the recognition they deserve.

As long as I enjoy the book I really don't mind. I've found a mixture of both over the years.

Try not to go with established authors but newer, but always take a long time to choose, while I look for a good story

I'd rather base my reading choices on whether or not I think I'll like the book not the kind of author that writes it.

I have no preference of authors. I only care about well written / developed books.
