Spirituality played a key role in the construction of Indian modernity. Makarand Paranjape, Professor of English at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, is the author of several collections of poetry, fiction and criticism. He has also edited more than a dozen books, including ‘The Penguin Sri Aurobindo Reader’, ‘Dharma and Development’, and ‘Science and Spirituality in Modern India’. He is currently the Principal Investigator of a project at JNU on ‘Science and Spirituality in Modern India’.
