Need help finding a book I read a while ago.

Hey everyone, glad to be hurr.
I was wondering if anyone could help me find this book.. I freakin' read it in 6th grade and I just remembered it 6 years later.
It's about this kid that is named William Shakespeare (I'm pretty sure) and he writes stories with cliffhanger endings and his friends and family never like it.
One day him and his friend that's a girl (which I don't remember her name) and her little brother with a stuffed dog (which I also don't remember) find this abandoned house and they decide to fix it up and yeah, they believe there's a monster there or something.
I also remember they go to this beach or something and find glass that looks like diamonds, but when they take it to the man that inspects diamonds, he tells them its glass.
