Most authors are readers and most readers are authors. Do you prefer to read or to write? As for me, when I am angry or sad or feeling a very negative emotion, I write, when I am happy or feeling positive emotions or just normal, I prefer reading.

I think both are beneficial, but you need to practice both to be good at both! It's true when they say reading improves your writing! .....all of this could just be the English teacher in me speaking too!

I agree! I like to let our my emotions and ideas through writing, but when I feel calm and happy I read.

I prefer reading to writing. I have a very active imagination, but I can't translate what I "see" into words very well...I'll leave it up to those who can!

I prefer reading to writing. I have tried writing but only managed to finished a 20 chapters story in 1 year. Then there's this story I wrote like its chapter 1 was a year ago and chapter 2 was 3 weeks age ? i got writer's block and had been busy for my final year. Now that I already technically graduated, its also time to get busy for job hunting.?

Reading all the way, writing involves alot of work. Readig is more fun and it doesn't demand much.

In my opinion, reading and writing complement one another. In most instance both are applied. Personally, I prefer reading more than writing especially when I'm tired.

I just started to get into writing. I have always had ideas for novels. But I have always been a reader and take whatever time I can to read. I have started setting time aside for writing as well though.

I have never written a book and really do not plan to. However, I am a chief editor, editor and writer for a major website. So, I do a little reading and a little writing as part of the job.

Often, I think I should allow myself a paperback or hardback book before bed. However, I usually am exhausted. Then, the book is forgotten until the following night.

Reading for sure! Reading is enough for and I do not aspire to become an author.

I love both. Reading opens the door to understand other's mind and writing lets me express mine. I think it's a 'give and take' thing.

In my case, it depends on the specific situations. I love both reading and writing. Reading is easier, but writing is more liberating and rewarding. To me, reading is something so natural and spontaneous that I can read in my most worn out state and still process the meanings properly. As for writing, I guess it depends on which form of writing you are trying to do. Stream of consciousness is relaxing and enjoyable, but serious writing needs time and effort. Sometimes it's so exhausting that I want to kill myself and do anything else instead. I know this is a confusing answer but there is no easy way for me to pick either of them.
