Looking for a book

I have been looking for a book for a few years. I'm not sure if it is specifically romance or mystery but it has some elements of both. The first couple of pages describes a woman waking up and realizing that she is in a coffin and is buried alive. She scrapes at the top and her fingernails are ripped out. The story centers around a journalist (not sure for what kind of publication) and her trip to find out who is killing these people in her town, all who had a part in a trial years earlier. Please help. I have been searching for so long and want to read it again. Thanks!
