Bookstores with cats?

Post by Danielle Leonardi »

Have you ever been to a bookstore that has cats roaming around? How do you feel about our feline friends?

I’m an avid cat lover and LOVE when bookstores have cats. It makes me feel right at home. At my house, I love curling up with a good book and listening to a cat purr next to me.

I love that this is a general thing everywhere!! I have been to a couple bookstores that had a cat. I’m not a huge cat person, but I love the quirky appeal that it gives a place!

that said there is a bookstore on Main Street in Park city, Utah and it was a thrill every year growing up when we went skiing to go in and see if that cat was still alive, so I guess it served its purpose cause I went to a bookstore there every year.

One of our local used bookstores has a cat. They even do adoptions (last time I checked, anyways). They even made a calendar available for purchase for one of their store cats and had a petition to choose a name for him (I didn't participate unfortunately, since I have enough trouble choosing names for my own cats. Don't have one at present, but I have a few picked out, but tend to use names of fictional characters or favorite places rather than ones for people).

Yes! I once visited a small independent bookstore in Portland that had two cats napping in sunlit corners — it was absolutely magical. There’s just something so comforting about browsing books with a cat nearby. I totally relate to that cozy feeling of reading at home with a purring cat beside you. It’s the perfect vibe for any book lover!
