Has anyone used wild rice before?

I’m currently on vacation in the north and my Grandmother recommended me a recipe where it said to boil the rice in broth for over 2 hours. Is this common in wild rice recipes?

Yes, not 2 hours maybe, but wild rice takes time. But it is very good for health.

Yes, but it takes much longer to cook than commercially grown rice. It has more flavor, but may also contain more "other things" like insects. If you are using rice in a dish that will have a lot of other flavors or sauces then it probably isn't worth the hassle (and extra cost) of cooking with wild rice.

I had no idea there was such thing as wild rice. I am glad I came across this post and found a little bit about it.

No. I want to try it, though. I heard that wild rice has a lot of health benefits. I would likely pair it with a protein such as chicken.
