Movies that make you want to read the book

There have been plenty of movies and TV series that are based off books, sometimes without even realizing it. What adaptation were you surprised that it came from a book and did it make you want to read the book?

Most recently, Get Shorty on Amazon was the adaptation I was surprised at and I am very curious on what the book is like!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST
