I love all the movie from this series. Especially, the second movie Dead Man's Chest. It's the epic of Captain Jack Sparrow. Big fan of Captain Sparrow.

I know some people are not fond of Dead Men Tell No Tales, but I really enjoyed it. Alongside The Black Pearl, it competes for the top spot. While every movie is amazing, funny and enjoyable, those two are also fairly lighthearted and therefore easier to watch.

Jaime Lync wrote: 04 Jun 2017, 22:49 So, I just finished watching the last Pirates of the Caribbean film: Dead Men Tell No Tales. I don't want to give any spoilers I'm just curious which movie is your favourite in the series and why?
In my opinion, The Black Pearl and at World's End are tied for first because they are hilarious and still quite impacting.
It’s hard to believe the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out 14 years ago, and while it’s true the franchise has lost a bit of its luster over the years, it’s still fun to check in with Johnny Depp from time to time. The new—and what Disney is suggesting may be the last in THE FRANCHISE—film is out this weekend. The trailers do make it look promising—I could have opted to see Baywatch—I went instead to check out Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Pros:
Visual Spectacle: Masterful visual effects that are CGI-heavy bring the pirate world alive with magnificent detail, but never more so than in scenes involving ghostly pirates and supernatural elements.
Action Sequences: There's plenty here for action lovers with sword fights, ship battles and chase scenes galore all done in the franchises trademark high speed style.
Johnny Depp's Performance: Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow and he brings his usual fun and hilarity to the story.
Nostalgic Elements: The film works up the nostalgia by calling back and tying in a lot of the storylines from the previous movies for a lot of character closure.
Cons:
Predictable Plot: The movie does it’s best to recreate the magic of the first Pirates movies, but it was just to predictable, everything that happened in the movie we are use too already.
Underdeveloped Characters: Any new characters that are introduced are pretty much one dimensional and are outshone by Sparrow.
Cheever. It’s the least thrilling bit of comic-book film making since Professor X and Magneto spent the end of “X-Men: First Class” nattering on a boat in the Caribbean."
Over-reliance on CGI: The effects here are great, but there are times when you feel they’ve been used too much and actually take away some of the gritty realism that made earlier movies in this series so good.
Review:
In an effort to revive the spirit of the original Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' does it by including new elements that will go a long way to broaden the pirate universe. Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, these factors make this film visually striking and filled with action so much that one feels like they are part of a film about pirates. Johnny Depp's comeback as Captain Jack Sparrow ensures humor and charisma you can count on, but nevertheless this part recycles what had been done before and lacks freshness of the prequels.
The movie is at it's best when there are swords swinging in every direction, and cannonballs flying through the air. The sets are beautiful, and special effects are awe-inspiring. But when you put all this awe-inspiring stuff together, what you get is a really long amazing trailer reel for the film.
While Dead Men Tell No Tales is fun to watch and provides the audience with plenty of action sequences and stunning visual effects, the story feels a bit tired by now. The movie relies too heavily on computer-generated imagery and old tropes from previous Pirates films to recapture that initial magic. There are enough allusions to earlier moments in the series that fans will enjoy the nostalgia, and Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is as lively as ever.

I loved all the movies, but the novelty of Captain Sparrow wore off for me in the later ones, though Keira Knightley seems to be getting better, like aged wine!
