Silence

Post by konnapap »

Hello, everyone!

I had read Silence by Shusaku Endo a couple of years ago, and I was thrilled when I learnt that Martin Scorcese planned on adapting it for the big screen. I finally watched it and it was amazing. One of the harshest and most powerful movies I've ever watched, for sure. Scorcese definitely respected the novel, and the adaptation was faithful to the original material. Silence is an essential read for those who love japanese literature with difficult ideas. I wasn't sure how would those meditations on faith be translated into another medium, but I was impressed.

Have any of you watched it yet? What did you think of the adaptation?
