It depends. A good movie is the kind that gives life to the plot of the original story, not stiffle it. TV is considered “popular culture.” Anything that goes there has to reflect the realities or novelties of that sector. That causes a lot of noise, such as the case of the increasingly frequent accusations of cultural appropriation, whitewashing, inter alia. That’s why I personally prefer books, they don’t have all that noise.

I always prefer to read the book before watching a movie based on it. The mind can create pictures/video clips of the story as we read, and there are a myriad of small details that often don't make it into the movie due to time constraints and producer/director choices. That said, I do enjoy watching the movie after reading the book, just to see how the interpretation of the story varies from the book and my mind's eye!

ALWAYS A BOOK! Books are so much better than movies or series. Filmmakers have a hard time competing against your imagination, and they have to change things from the book or leave parts out due to timing and screenplay issues. There is no comparison. Even the LOTR movies, which are fantastic, are nothing compared to the books.

If I was offered this choice, since I am a books person, I would go for the book. The only time I would go for a movie is when am failing to concentrate to finish the book. The other time is when the book is not flowing.

If given a chose, I would probably choose both. I like to read and watch movie. So, I'll read the book first and than watch the movie. Reading the book first give me a better understanding of the story.
