Definitely book first. When you read a book and then watch the move, you know what the characters are thinking and feeling throughout the movie. Movies are able to give you a clear picture as to what is happening.

Definitely book first!!! I am actually in a delimma myself currently! I have watched the first half of the Hunger Games movie but was unable to finish it because I fell asleep.......this was several weeks ago. Now I am just putting off watching the whole thing because I want so badly to read the book! I know that once I watch the full movie I won't want to read the trilogy, especially with the second movie being released on dvd tomorrow!

Lately, I have noticed that many of the movies that are coming out that are based on a book I have already read them (i.e., Hunger Games, Divergent, etc.). Books are always better, in my opinion (more details). I do enjoy seeing the movies when they come out, but it only leaves room for me to complain about how the movie could have been better.

I actually saw the first Harry Potter movie before reading the book. I liked the movie so much that I read the books. Then I read the next book. Then I started to anticipate the upcoming books. Then I got addicted to the Harry Potter Forums. Then I attended the Midnight Harry Potter Book Release parties. So, I guess what I am saying is that if I like the movie, I know I'm really going to like to book. So, It would probably be best for me to watch the movie first and if I like it, then read the book.

But, on the other hand, I think I would prefer to read the book first because I can get bored easily while reading. If I already know what is going to happen, because I saw the book already, I will more than likely stop reading it. So I have to go with READ THE BOOK FIRST.

Most of the time I try to read the book first.
But there are some accidental moments where you don't know the movie was a book and so I sometimes end up watching the movie first.

The book should definitely be read first. The original story comes from the book and therefore you may not get the full experience if you only watch the movie as 9 times out of 10 content from the book has to be cut in order to make the movie.

I usually read the book first but there have been some occasions where I have watched the movie first because I wasn't sure if I would like the book

A book first is usually what I look for, because the book normally tells the whole story, and the movie skims it. But, timing does guide my decision as well. If there is not a lot of time, or we go to the movie just by chance, then I will get the book. Sometimes, when I read the book I won't go to the movie, especially if the book is really good.

Definitely book first! They always leave out a bunch of the good stuff in the movies.

I totally agree i was so exited to see the Cirque du Freak movie and was so disappointed. It was horrible it was like they wer trying to include as much as they could in one movie but they werent even doing what they did put in correctly. Reading the book before is always always the best route.

My preference is to read the book as well first, but depending on the time, I tend to watch the movie. It is very clear that reading the book first then watching the movie gives you potentially a greater experience or bigger disappointment.

Book first, definitely. I find that seeing the movie first ruins how I would imagine everything to be.

I like to know the way it's supposed to be before I watch the movie

Book first, I do tend to criticize the movie more when I have read the book but I don't like reading a book and seeing the movie in my head.

I prefer to read a book first and might not even see the movie.i believe that some parts of the book might have been edited out or removed simply because there was no way the actors could interpret exactly what the writer was describing.i like to "feel" a book and I might not get that "feel" in the same book as a movie. When I watch a movie first, I don't enjoy the book, but when I read a book first, I enjoy both.
