Sharknado was produced by The Asylum (known for its cheesy B-movies), Childhood's End is being executive produced by Michael DeLuca (The Social Network) with Universal Cable Productions (Covert Affairs, Psych, Royal Pains, Suits, Defiance, Warehouse 13) serving as the studio, so it has the potential to be pretty good.

SyFy is also developing a miniseries adaptation of Ringworld by Larry Niven produced by MGM Television and Universal Cable Productions. I think SyFy is finally headed in the right direction.

I will, especially if it is a book that I am really interested in or really enjoyed. I have to admit, I enjoyed reading the Twilight series and went to go and see the movies. However, I find that I am always disappointed by the movie versions of books. I don't think that it is fair to blame it on Hollywood because they only have so much time to be able to condense a book into a 2-3 hour movie. I do have to wonder though if the director's read the books prior to tackling the movie. I would think that they have to. Then again, i wonder how many of them rely on someone else to fill them in.

Very pleasantly surprised to watch "Disgrace" Starring David Malkovich, it was a great adaptation of the Man Booker Prize 2014, the best book/movie version that I have seen.

One big book to movie change that I did not enjoy in the slightest was Beautiful Creatures. I read the book and it was very interesting to read, but when I watched the movie I was extremely upset with the outcome. A lot of facts from the movie were different in the book and too many details, even small, were changed. The small details like where the locket was found, the trip to the movies, and several others needed to be exactly alike from book to movie.

I am always disappointed with books that are made into movies. Could it be that we have created a movie version of the book in our mind while reading it and when the movie version is released it does not reach our expectation ?

I definitely think that we do this, and this is a big part of why readers are disappointed in movie adaptations. But I still love to watch them just to see how much it differs from the book (or the movie in my head).

I find myself constantly picking the other ones apart to see how closely they match the
book. So many of them fall short of the mark. Now the epics on the other hand, Harry
Potter & Lord of the Rings, Interview With A Vampire I enjoyed fully.

I almost always end up disliking the movie. Two hours is often not enough to cover the whole book. Whenever a new movie based from a book is announced, I would picture out the scenes that I would really like to see in the movie only to be disappointed because it wasn't shown or it was poorly made.

I actually really do enjoy watching the movie adaptions of books because I think it's just cool. Despite the fact that a lot of the filmmakers will never be able to compare to the book, it's still really cool to see how they go about fitting all the information into the movie.

If there's a book that I like and then it gets a film adaptation, I'll watch it once just to see if they did it justice or turned it into a trainwreck. After that, I'll stick to reading the books because movie studios tend to bite on the acclaim of books in order to make some cash. Once in a while, I'll watch a film without reading the book it was based on.

So far I have found I like the books better then the movies. Well except with Horse Whisperer I did like the ending of the movie better then the book. I don't watch movies much anyways because I would rather be spending that time reading.

Watching a movie after reading the book is most of the times disappointing. M never satisfied with the picture they present to the movie. . It feels like its killing the reader's imagination. .

One of my favorite books that became a movie and now a series of movies in Bridgette Jones's Diary.

Most of the time I do not mind if books are turned into movies. There are a few strong examples that I can think of that the actors/actresses do not truly embody the character I envisioned in my head or the director truly played with the story line that diminishes what I fell in love about the book. If I know the book is going to be coming out as a movie, I will make sure I do not read it to close to when I will see the movie. Otherwise, I will compare the book and movie to much as I would remember to many of the little details that do not make into the movie due to the restriction of time. It also prevents me from truly enjoying the movie for the new art form it is.
